An emergency meeting of APRC party stalwarts, mayors of Kanifing and Banjul and all five regional governors has been called by Yaya Jammeh for Thursday, May 12th in Kanilai.
The emergency meeting which has already been confirmed to take place on Thursday coincides with the provincial tour that was to have taken place the same Thursday which s now doomed for now.
And unless there is a significant improvement in the state finances, the budgetary challenges posed by economic crisis facing the country are too great to organize a tour which has grown in size and extravagance. In fact, both Kanifing Municipal Council and Banjul City Council were expected to contribute to the cost of conducting the tour as the state is broke.
Given the current state of the regime's finances, the provincial tour may have to be postponed indefinitely which Jammeh try to sort out his political problems which have overtaken events. And as opposition protesters are expected in the High Court this morning, more protester demonstrators are expected to be out again in full force to show support and in solidarity with their party leaders and colleagues on trial on numerous trumped-up charges.
